Yongnuo announced a new autofocus-quipped YN85mm f/1.8 camera for Nikon Z-mount cameras. It is very affordable considering the performance that the company promises photographers can get.

Yongnuo posted the announcement of the new lens to its Weibo account. The information below was obtained by machine translation.

According to the company, the lens is versatile and light weight making it suitable for street photography and portraiture. It measures 68mm in width by 89mm in length, weighs 405g, and has a 58mm filter size. Yongnuo claims it can be used for both video and photo work. It was specifically designed for Nikon Z-mount cameras that support full digital connectivity.

Yongnuo claims the lens has nine elements, in eight groups. One low dispersion glass element is included and one high-refractive index lens. The company claims that this lens effectively suppresses aberrations. The lens has a seven-blade aperture and is water- and dust-resistant. However, Yongnuo states that if it rains, photographers should not allow the lens to get wet.

The lens has both manual and autofocus functionality. The former is powered by a stepping motor, which Yongnuo claims is quiet and fast. Fn function keys can also be found on the lens. These keys can be used to quickly access the menu or support future firmware updates via the USB-C port.

The manual focus ring and the control ring are also integrated into the YN85mm. Photographers can assign common functions like exposure compensation, ISO, aperture to the ring. When in autofocus mode the manual focus ring is turned, it will adjust the setting quickly. The control ring functionality is not available in manual focus mode.
