People are becoming more aware of the impact that their environment has on their mental and physical well-being as cities grow in size and become more dense. The interior design of homes has been designed to promote calmness, comfort, and sensitivity as a way to escape the unpredictable outside world. The modern bathroom is a space that we use to start and end our days. It has evolved to become a place for relaxation and self-care. What was once a functional space is now viewed as a flexible living space and a place to recharge. It can also be used for other purposes, such as a gym or private spa.
It is important to choose the right material combination in order to create this calm, but dynamic atmosphere. Different materials have the ability to create architecture that is alive. They can reflect light or capture it, affect user perceptions, and determine the style of a space. It is important to choose timeless materials that complement the modern bathroom’s aesthetic. Dornbracht, in collaboration with Sieger Design, launched a new CYO bathroom series in May 2021. It offers a variety of finishes and allows for multiple design options.
Four architectural concepts that explore the interplay between materials
The series has been showcased in four architectural environments that allow you to experience the expressiveness and versatility of the materials: Metropolitan, Oasis and the new Mystical and Delight. Each scenario explores the idea of the bathroom being a sanctuary and provides inspiration for architects as well as designers. It features shower accessories and faucets in different finishes.
Metropolitan: Escape from the big city
It is all about balance in the Metropolitan bathroom. The space captures the vibrant energy of big cities but also provides a relaxing retreat from the outside world. The room concept is spacious and embodies luxury and rawness with its smooth surfaces and monolithic elements. Walls and floors are made from concrete and white marble, and home textiles in cream or beige colors complement the space. The CYO bathroom fittings – including the basin and hand shower sets – have been incorporated in Brushed durabrass to match the design.
Oasis: Bringing nature indoors
The Oasis bathroom, on the other hand, is all about nature and aims to break down boundaries by making the outside part of an open, flexible space. The space uses both natural and artificial materials such as concrete, black marble, pebbles and black corian. The Dark Platinum matt fittings add warmth and depth to the space. This creates a room that is warm, soft, and natural. It also includes plants and river stones.
Mystical – Mysterious and elegant
Dornbracht also added two architectural concepts to the CYO bathroom inspirations, Oasis and Metropolitan. The Mystical design is, first and foremost, characterized by a mysterious, primal atmosphere. The unique combination of materials used to create the Mystical concept – dark lava rock, matt metals, and fine leather – makes it stand out. This creates a magical mixture of warmth and cool, rugged nature. The room’s black basalt walls evoke a volcanic landscape. However, the dark steel, satin-finished glasses and dark textile surfaces bring out a contemporary, elegant atmosphere. This style is further enhanced with the CYO fittings which have a Platinum matt finish.
Delight – Prioritizing light & color
Delight’s material world is dominated by light, which is why the emphasis is placed on materials that include light in a creative way. The minimalist design concept of the space is based on steel and concrete elements that are softened by round shapes, pastel tones and translucent curtain fabric. This adds a layer lightness and coziness. However, the room’s unique character is highlighted by the use colored acrylic glass and powder coated aluminum with a mirroring effect. This creates a multi-dimensional, graphic atmosphere. The room’s light, shine, colors, and round accents can be intensified by using high-gloss Chrome finishes.
Modern bathrooms need versatile fittings
The CYO faucet series is the unifying feature of all four design concepts. Its adaptability and timelessness to different materials and styles are its main strength. The faucet combines a traditional design language with a modern twist. It is an innovative interpretation of the classic C-shaped spout. The faucet’s shape is defined by a simple circle, and accented with circular handles. It traces water flow in a unique, functional way. The faucet series is available in four finishes and includes a variety of handle options that allow for more design possibilities.
In architecture and design, timeless pieces that can adapt to changing conditions will always be the best. As the modern bathroom evolves and becomes a retreat, there will be a demand for versatile, high-quality fittings that allow creativity.
